50! Who knew how time could fly...

My parents made me a "money tree" (yes- those are really one dollar bills-50 of them) My Mom announced as I opened the present, "Diane always thought money grew on trees". I thought it was hilarious, gotta love Moms! I have finally finished decorating for Christmas, will have a houseful here on Christmas day. I hope everyone has a Merry holiday!!!

Party!

We had our Material Girls Christmas party, hosted by Kathy Morrison. A big thank you to Kathy for hosting! The food was great, and the friendship is always the best. We had our annual challenge. We had to make a quilt using hexagon shapes. I enjoyed making this quilt since I enjoy hand work.

Sneak peek..

Here is a peek at my Material Girls challenge quilt. I won't be able to post a full pic until after our December party :)
I also made these cute baskets for a friend to be sold for our Quilting Guild.
I got the patterns from her Pinterest, then found the blogs....Pink Penguin and You asked 4 it: structured fabric baskets.

Also; take time to thank God for our Veterans today.

Quilt Show

I had a great time at the Pacific International Quilt show in Santa Clara. Had great company, and the quilts were beautiful. This is some of the "stuff" I bought. I also bought a new foot for my bernina. The blue fabric is silk. I hope to find a great piece of linen to show off the blue fabric...

Progress!

I just had to post a big "thank you" to all of my friends who kept telling me to "get free with free motion quilting" (no BSR). I have finished another block on my Wedding Ring quilt, and am so excited to have done it with free motion quilting. It is soooo much better (I'm still working on my stitch length), but what a relief it is!!

Quilting Class

I had the privilege of taking Cindy Needham's threadology class. She was a very fun and informative teacher. I really enjoyed the class.

Summer table topper

Found this pattern and fabric at "Candies" on our trip to Road to California last year. Practiced my machine applique and machine quilting with this pattern.

My husband likes to cook, so he made Paella. We had fun sharing with a few friends:)

I made two wallets and a coin purse. The blue wallet is made for my Mom (to go with the purse I made her-pic on previous post)

Toils and Troubles

Machine Quilting is not my favorite thing to do.  After breaking 3 needles, I realized why...I do not plan well.  I was trying to machine quilt the button hole stitch with my single hole throat plate! My poor Bernina, it's still stitching :)

Don't Sweat the Small stuff!

I love making "baby stuff".  I made these "burp pads" for my niece (free download from Connecting Threads website).  The purse I made is for my Mom.  Now that the small stuff is done, now back to Machine quilting and getting some "big" stuff done :)

We are back from vacation. We had a great time, even went bowling. Wondering if someone could invent cuter bowling shoes? I'm a lousy bowler, will be glad to get back to quilting! I also won some money-woo hoo!

Getting ready for vacation, thought I'd post some "hand work" I'll be working on. It's a  McKenna Ryan pattern.

This is my most recent quilt that is finished. It was made for my husband's family member. I hope she likes it...

New Blog

I thought I would join the crowd and start a blog.  I tend to make quilts at a slow pace, but do enjoy the process.  It may take me awhile to figure out how to post. Hopefully, with the help of friends I will learn quickly.
