Christmas is coming....

This quilt is finally in the final stages. It is blocked and drying! I will use it on my bed for Christmas.  (sorry for the upside down pic!)

My niece's kitchen is brown, pumpkin spice and tan. She liked the placemats I made for my Mom, so I made these for her as a Christmas gift.

Material Girl's reveal

Our Quilting Group, "The Material Girls, had their annual quilt challenge reveal. We have 17 in our group, not everyone was able to make it. Here are a few pics of some of the group.

Lynn-Marie, Janice, and Carol.

Kathy, Deolinda, Barbara

Rita, Janice, and Elaine

Me

The challenge was a half-square triangle exchange. They were to exchange HST and then make a quilt. I did not participate because I have had this pattern waiting (for a few years-yikes) for me to make. I really like it, it looks somewhat western in real life! Now on to another quilting project.

I had a great time with my friends at PIQF. Our annual photo! Great time with Kathy Morrison, Debbie VanFossen, Barbara Sindlinger, and me :)
I am showing a few of the spectacular quilts on display at the show.

My friend Debbie had this beautiful quilt at the show!

I only bought a few things this year, mainly to add to projects I have going already!

It's a Winner!

So excited that I won Best of Show at our local Tulare County Fair! This was my first attempt at making a Wedding Ring quilt. It took alot of hand embroidery and hand applique for the ring pieces.

I took a fun "button bracelet" class with June Johnson. This class was held by Common Threads Quilt Guild. I love my little butterfly buttons!

Paint Chip Challenge

The above picture was my completed quilt top during our Paint Chip Challenge reveal in 2009. We had to make a quilt using the colors on our paint chip card. I think we were supposed to add another color; thus, the fabric in the center...
This is the completed quilt. I did not like the center fabric, so I changed it so the appliqué would be the focus of the quilt. I plan to use this as a table topper during the holiday season. I am so glad to have another UFO completed! Happy sewing!

Charity Quilts

I have been trying to finish my UFO, but ran out of thread (something I tend to do often). But this provided the perfect opportunity for me to work on the two charity quilts that have been waiting to be quilted :)

Wow!

It sure feels good to be quilting again. This is our friendship challenge from a few years ago. The hexagons below are what I worked on while sitting for a few days with a family member in the hospital.
I plan to add a consistent red colored hexagon when I put them all together. Happy Quilting!!

Best of Valley Quilt show

Fresh from the tropical Islands, I decided to finally make these pillows. I have had the fabric for 2 years! Now I have three new pillows for my couch. I was also very surprised and happy to win a first place on my Wedding Ring quilt at Best of the Valley Quilt show. Thank you to Phyllis Ogden for sponsoring this award!

Maui trip

I have not been doing much sewing, but had a blast on vacation. This is a picture from the view from our balcony. Hawaii is so beautiful, hate to leave that view! Back to reality, and now I need to complete some projects!

Little Brown Bird

This is the pattern made by Sandra Leichner, class I took at Road to California this year. It is all needle turn applique and embroidery. I think I might try and frame this little wall hanging.

My Friendship group is doing a Half Square Triangle challenge. I am doing my own challenge, here is the result. Alot of blocks with both paper piecing and half square triangles!

These old bones..

Blocking my quilts always makes me nervous...putting it into the washer, not knowing if the colors will spill over onto one another. Whew, this one was okay! It is getting much harder to get up from the floor too :)
