Mystery part 3

I have been trying to keep up with the Bonnie Hunter Grand Illusion Mystery. Here are my Part 1, 2 and 3, I was able to complete a few blocks of each!
I hosted our annual Material Girls Christmas party this year. We had a great time! We missed those who couldn't make it. We were so excited to see Anna and Sue who traveled the farthest! What a treat!

Bonnie Hunter Mystery….

Working on the first clue of the mystery. I love how the pink and turquoise go together! The photo does not show the colors very well, but I like it.
I finished another top for a baby quilt. I used the fabric line "Miss Kate" by Moda. I will need to get this "baby" quilted before Christmas (even though the baby is one year old!)  :)

My First…..

Quilt retreat at Wonder Valley was great! Great views and fun with friends! I finished two purses and started, yes you guessed it, another baby quilt!!

The group! L to R . Barbara B., Lynn Marie, Elaine, Janice, Barbara S. and Kathy

We had lots of room to sew!
Barbara Brown worked on napkins and Aprons-sew cute!
Here is one of Barbara S's. quilt tops, along with some of Lynn Marie's blocks.
Janice finished (almost) quilting and binding her Vintage Moments quilt.
This is Elaine hiding behind her finished quilt top.
Kathy got tired of quilting her Clematis quilt, so worked on her Ipad :)

Fun with Friends. Our annual photo at the Pacific International quilt show.

This is some of the fabric I bought. Making another baby quilt, and also participating in the Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter.

Here are a few pictures of the quilts at the show. I love the quilting on these beautiful quilts.

September is Sew month!

This month I have been trying hard to finish some projects. I took inspiration from Janice Minyard's blog and finished our block of the month. I am trying to decide on sashing and border colors.
I made this little table topper and four placemats for a Christmas gift. Now on to the baby quilts that need to be made!

I am working on another baby quilt. We have had (or will have had) 3 new babies born in our family this year. I am two behind!
I am glad to have this quilt finished, although I may add a few more buttons to the small flowers. This was a "half-square" challenge quilt from our Material Girls quilting group. My challenge was all of the paper piecing involved, and always….the quilting.

This and That...

This is always my favorite part of quilting…the binding, because then it is almost finished!
These are a few items I made for our Common Threads Boutique.
I still need to finish the placemats, but decided to post anyway. :)

Pencil case

I got tired of digging for pencils and pens in my desk at work, so thought I'd make a pencil case. This pattern is from It was pretty difficult to make but I like the way it turned out :)

Keep on movin'….

Just a sneak peak at my Material Girl's Challenge quilt. I love the colors! It is very "fall-looking".  I may have to hire someone to quilt it to get it done by the deadline!
I am finally decorating with some of my quilts. One of the extra bedrooms was perfect for a day bed and my antique sewing machine. I am still waiting for my husband to help me hang my quilt rack so I can hang more quilts-he's not so excited about that!

Fun in the sun..

We have been busy working on our backyard at our new house. Since this picture was taken, the bricks  have been removed and my husband dug a trench along the fence for drainage. We hope to have cement poured soon. We also had alot of dead trees removed along our back fence. I have been able to sew a few of my challenge blocks together. It is supposed to be a house theme-can't show any pictures yet!
I was able to give my great-niece Cadence her quilt at our Father's day party. She loved it! I was very suprised at her reaction-she was very pleased and gave me a big hug :) Cadence is the girl standing in the pink shirt. (notice all of the dirt surrounding our pool-we have alot of work ahead).

Block of the Month April and….

I finished my April blocks a little late. Started on May's blocks and ran out of one of my fabrics. I was trying to use my stash, but oh well, had to buy more fabric! Can't believe we only have a few blocks left. Then on to the Applique!

Quilt retreat

I recently went on a quilt retreat to Cambria with these lovely ladies. I did not get my quilt top done, but had a great time gabbing, watching movies, and quilting….oh, I forgot, eating too! Love these kind of weekends!

My aunt came to visit this month and loved my Mom's purse I made. So she asked if I would make one for her and her daughter. Of course, I could not say no…so these two purses are being shipped to Texas this weekend.  Sibling rivalry and all that…...
And this beauty bloomed from one of our trees in the backyard. It was planned to be removed, but now that I know what it can produce, I think it will be spared :)

Block of the Month

February blocks completed. I am enjoying this block of the month with friends!
