Christmas is coming...

One of my favorite things to do every year is to meet with this awesome group of ladies. This is only a portion of our friendship group, but I am always so happy to see them! We revealed our challenge for the year.
Kathy requested "Crazy Quilt blocks", and made hers into a wall hanging.
 Barbara requested "Easter" blocks.
 Carol requested "Crazy Quilt blocks"
This is Adena's quilt from one of our exchanges a few years ago
 Deolinda requested "Halloween" blocks
Anna requested 4th of July "themed" blocks.
I know the New Year will be awesome!!

Quilting 2015 Retreat

We had our second annual Material Girls Quilt retreat this weekend. It was a great time with wonderful ladies held at Wonder Valley.
Anna Koelewyn, Lynn Marie Neilson, Janice Minyard, Kathy Morrison, Barbara Sindlinger, Diane Mitchell (me), and Elaine Berry
Elaine and Kathy discussing quilt patterns!

Lynn Marie and Anna discuss patterns

Anna showing her completed table topper
 Barbara maching quilting…busy, busy..
These were the blocks I was working with. This was from a "Pat Speth" class sponsored by Common Threads Quilt Guild, March 2015.
Janice Minyard was working with this awesome panel. Getting ideas on border designs
Kathy Morrison worked on her "Downton Abbey" Mystery Quilt
Barbara Sindlinger finished quilting one of her quilts
Lynn Marie finished the top she was working on….scrap therapy pattern.

These are some of the projects I have been working on for the last few months. This was a purse patten purchased by my Mom. I made it for her. She picked the fabric. The inner lining is a red polka dot!
This was a pincushion made for our Guild's boutique in October
This is a "frozen" quilt and pillow case made for my great niece Mallory Thomas. I will send this at Christmas.
I also helped a very good friend of mine do some demolition in her house. We removed three rooms of tile….I would much rather be quilting. But she is an awesome friend, and I was glad I could help her!

Fall finishes..

I finally finished quilting and binding this embroidery quilt. I am going to thoroughly enjoy this quilt during the holiday season!
This quilt was made for our Material Girls challenge. Darby Myers did a beautiful job quilting it. My sister has requested to have this one….

Not quite a finish

I have been working on this quilt for a very long time. I think the redwork was finished much faster than the quilting :)   It's drying, just waiting for the binding!
I finished the top for the Shabby Fabrics BOM. This is their pattern called "Garden Tea Party". It was very fun to make.  I enjoy having a whole month to complete a block before the next one arrives :)

I have joined a "quilt along" with some friends. This is week two of the quilt along. It is called the Twisted Blossom from Sew Kind of Wonderful.
I completed another quilt top. I loved this pattern! Another addition to my machine quilting pile!!

Grand Illusion..

This is the quilt I made from Bonnie Hunters' quilt along called the Grand Illusion. This is a king size bed! Thank you Darby Myers for quilting this beast :) I love the sunny colors of summer!
I also finished another Shabby Fabrics Block of the month Tea pot. I love these blocks, they are so cute!

I made this small wallhanging from a Shabby Fabrics free pattern. I used scraps from the "Miss Kate" line. I wanted to make something for Spring!
I am going to a baby shower, and the request was made for baby books rather than cards. I made this bib too.
I am still working on my machine quilting, but tend to get distracted with the little things (pictured above) :)

Short and stout….

This is the second Shabby Fabric BOM teapot. "I'm a little teapot…."
This is a baby quilt I finished for our next little great nephew, due in May!
I also made this portable diaper holder to match the quilt.
The Best of the Valley Quilt show was held this weekend. My Mother and I had a great time. I did win a second place on the quilt shown below. A BIG thank you to Darby Shaw for her awesome quilting that helped win the second place ribbon.

Shabby fun...

I finished my first Shabby Fabric's BOM called "Garden Tea Party". It is a pieced and appliqued block.  Very fun to make.
This is a sewing basket my Grandfather ( my Mother's Dad) made for my Grandmother. Probably in the 1930s. Made with only hand tools. I love it! My Mom gave it to me. She doesn't mind if I paint it. So I am trying chalk paint. I plan to add Dove Egg blue to the inside. It will look "sew" good in my sewing room!!

Sail on..

I finished another Shabby Fabrics block. Only one more to go! I signed up for Shabby Fabrics "Garden Tea Party" BOM, so I need to finish my summer blocks! I love appliqué!
I have finished quilting all of the redwork blocks, and now need to start working on the borders. Happy Quilting!

Finishing and starting...

This is another baby quilt I finished for a great Niece. I have about 5 months before the next great Nephew is born so I plan to get some tops quilted before I begin my next baby quilt.
I have been working on this quilt top for quite some time. I am so excited to start quilting this one.  I think this will be one of my favorites! :) Happy quilting.

I forgot to mention….

I finished the top to the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt, Grand Illusion!

A New Year! 2015

A new year and alot of quilting in my near future. My goal for the next few months is to get a few tops quilted. I have quite a few tops in my stash that need quilting, so I thought that would be a good goal for this year. Although I may be side tracked as we will have two new babies born in the family this year. Our family continues to grow!
This top was made as one of the mystery quilts from the Common Threads quilt guild. It was quilted by  Darby Shaw, she did an awesome job!

This quilt was made for a challenge with my quilting group, "The Material Girls". The challenge was to make a quilt with 1/2 square triangles.
